Village Voice

The Village Voice was a weekly newspaper published in New York City, sold on newsstands (it’s now free), with a strong, progressive editorial voice. We developed and updated the cover look, giving it an aggressive, poster-ish, tabloid feel designed to compete head-to-head with New York’s tabloids (there were three at the time) on the newsstand. We also completely revamped the feature design, and switched the production process of the paper from Atex to Macintosh.

The art and photo staff of 10 included designers Florian Bachleda, Jennifer Gilman, Lisa Steinmeyer, Kate Thompson, and Julie Ebel, and photo editors Edna Suarez and Tom McGovern.
