101 Kick-Ass Music Covers: The Runner-Ups
Adweek recently asked me to compile a gallery of the best music magazine covers of all time. Called “101 Kick-Ass Music Covers: The most awesome, iconic and controversial magazine images of the last 80 years,” it’s a nifty visual collection of covers from the 1930s-now. Adweek creative director Nick Mrozowski and executive editor Tony Case collaborated with me to put together this obsessive (and graphic) list.
As with any list of this sort, there were way too many to choose from, and a lot of my favorite covers were left out of the mix. Here are 12 classic magazine covers featuring musicians that didn’t make the original list of 101, but a still classics in their own right.
