Entertainment Weekly Covers

I was the design director for Entertainment Weekly from 1994-96. During that time we created almost 100 covers for the weekly magazine and some stand-alone special issues. The covers were made with a talented photo team headed by Mary Dunn and Doris Brautigan. And a number of these covers were designed by Florian Bachleda, George Karabotsos, Elizabeth Betts, Don Morris, and Mark Michaelson.

The Society of Publication Designers has organized a gathering of every Entertainment Weekly design director in the magazine’s 25-year history. For the Love of…Entertainment Weekly will be September 30 at the SVA Theatre in New York City. This historic event will feature lots of fun and surprises, and of course a deep look at many of the magazine’s classic covers. Here’s a collection of 79 covers published while I was design director.
